as in-line extensibility for use not only in standard environments but also in
hazardous conditions. As for equipment, it can be equipped with ET200 distributed I/O
stations and advanced intelligent field equipment.
Intelligent field devices can be
connected either directly to PROFIBUS or to HART interface templates installed in
remote I/O racks and can be configured redundantly. Field devices can be directly
connected to Ex zones 0, 1 or 2 via PROFIBUS Fieldbus. The communication between
SIMATIC PCS 7 and intelligent field devices is based on international standards and
specifications, such as IEC61158. Traditional field equipment and HART field equipment
are more suitable to use ET200 series distributed I/O to connect to PROFIBUS. These
sensors/actuators are also available for Ex zones 0, 1 or 2. With ET200M, available for
standard environments or Ex zone 2; With ET200iS, it is available for Ex zone 1. Can
also be used in special conditions, such as temperature range widening or the presence
of condensation
